I think 66% of the stuff they teach you at school is useless that you would never use in the real world. I was helping my brother with his science homework today, some of the questions were:
this is gonna be a long day, I woke up at 3am and can't fall asleep. I'll probably finally nod off at 6 and then have to get up at 7:30. I've been sleeping really badly this week, I even overslept till 10 yesterday. I thanked my mom for waking me up, she assumed i didn't have to go in before lunch. I had to go to the office at school to let them know I was late, which I think is a dumb policy. Instead of going straight to class you have to go to the office with a note from a parent and fill in a form. If by grade 12 you want to arrive late to school then big whoop.
earlier this week I was thinking about skipping school Friday and driving to Ottawa for the weekend to see Stacey. In the end I decided not to cos Stace will be home next Thursday (for her graduation ceremony), plus there have been wicked fog warnings all week. I definitely want to drive up to Ottawa again for a weekend before Christmas. Stace has been stressing about exams for the last two weeks, she used to get worked up about school work but it seems even more intense now (shes doing Psychology at Uni of Ottawa, which is a pretty full on degree). So I think I'll wait till the end of the month when she is pass the first cycle of exams.
This weekend should be pretty quiet, I have to work all day on Saturday. On Sunday I'm going to check out the 07 Customs at boardsports, I'm definitely getting a new board this season, and I'm catching up with Liam probably on Sunday to get his old Vans boots. I don't think the resorts will open before Christmas, but I'm starting to get pumped for the snowboarding season.
today was the first day of school, one more year to go. it was a pretty good day, i think everyone was glad to be back, we had homeroom for an hour this morning, and then we had a 2 hour assembly, so they're breaking us in nice and easy. there were a bunch of staff changes over the summer break, including the principal. The old principal was a really nice guy, he knew every students name, what subjects they were taking & what they want to do after school. he's actually an old friend of my moms and hes been over for dinner parties. the new principal she seems ok, she looks a bit like the wife from everybody loves raymond, she gave a nice little speech how Sacred Heart students have the best reputation in the province, i didnt really get the impression that she will be a progressive principal. my favorite teacher, Mr. Irwin has also left, even though I'm not doing economics this semester anyway so it doesn't really affect me, but still its going to be strange not hanging out in his classroom at lunch. I realised at assembly that there is not a single teacher at my school who inspires me. You could see in their faces they were just as drained as the students to be back in school. I do have a couple of new teachers, my math teacher, I forget her name, she seems nice, she did a good job of explaining what we'll be doing this semester.
I am going to run for school council - well its pretty much a given I will be on the council, there are 10 seats and only 8 6 people had signed up to run when I put my name down. It should be interesting, you get to attend PTA meetings & vote on school guidelines and funding. Well it sounds interesting anyway, maybe they exaggerated how much power the school council really have. and I'm really tempted to try out for the school play again this year, they are doing Grease.
I did my final exam today, economics and I was pretty happy with it. I broke one of my study rules by getting up this morning at 5 to get in 3 more hours of cramming, I think it paid off.
even though I've done all my exams & handed in all my assigments I still need to go to school until next Friday .... high school students in Ontario are required to attend X number of school days each year, I have to go everyday until friday to meet that number. it doesn't make sense to me, I've only had 1 sick day this year, other people I could name have a sick day every week. Then again, I did take 8 days off school at the start of the year when I went to Australia & we had 16 snow days so I can't really complain!
anyway, its gonna be fun, we're gonna watch movies & play poker .... I'm gonna see if they'll let me bring my xbox 360 & guitar hero in next week!
I got up at 7 to go to school this morning, this is what we've done
FIRST PERIOD: was supposed to be Religion, instead the grade 11s and 12s had to go to a seminar on drinking and driving. Which by the way Stacey stayed home for, she actually got her mom to write her a note excusing her from attending a seminar on DRINKING and DRIVING! what kind of a parent does that?
SECOND PERIOD: English, I spent the whole class talking to Jamie and playing tetris on my ipod
during little lunch I went to pick up the Princess to finally bring her to school
THIRD PERIOD: Biology, Aaron and I made up some new lyrics for the song 'Blister in the Sun'
FOURTH PERIOD: study time, I'm screwing around on vox
if this is what I have to look forward to for the next three weeks I'd rather be at home, at least then I could sleep in.
Have you ever had a dream that came true?

last night actually, I dreamt that my friend Filipe was selling these shirts with 'DON'T BE EMO, IT'S ONLY CHEMO' on them, as a fundraiser for cancer research. Our Principal tried to ban the shirts, but eventually he lifted the ban.
... well, today in Math class this girl Mia was having a whinge about how our math teacher quit at the start of the year, we've had 3 different subs & classes have been a bit of a mess. well she was going on & on about it, how it was screwing her OSSD credits ... well finally I spoke up & said 'jeez, I know people on chemo who aren't as emo as you'. it doesn't make sense, but pretty much everyone laughed. It's nice when you get to use one-liners from your dreams, but I probably heard it from somewhere else. When we were going to our next class Jamie told me Mia's mom had had chemo, but he was just kidding, the sick cunt.
school assemblies are bad at the worst of time, but having 2 back to back on a friday is worse than being sent to guantanamo bay. we had a two hour general assembly this morning, I literally can't remember 3 things that was said. well I know they said we can't take ipods to school anymore, but I don't really care cos I don't take my ipod to school. apparently there have been 6 ipods stolen so far this year (meh, for my school thats considered a crime spree). our school is also 50 years old this year, so apparently we're having a huge open day (compulsory).
after little lunch the grade 12s were called back to assembly for another two hours to talk about prom, and final exams & uni selections.
so after all those assemblies it was lunch time, jamie had the brilliant plan we should skip the last two periods and go watch TMNT. so I txted my mom to be safe so she'd know what was happening (our school calls your parents & leaves an automated message if you miss a class). my mom txted me back & said 'i think you should go to class'. mm so I convinced Jamie to stay & come to English with me. well there were only 3 other people who bothered to come to class, needless to say Jamie wasn't impressed, so we agreed we'd definitely skip last period. we actually waved goodbye to a teacher as we drove off in my car. i think the next few months everyone is going to get more & more apathetic about going to class. i just drove jamie home cos he had to go to work.
by the time I got home it was only 30 minutes before my usual time. my mom was lying on the couch watching Y&R, my stepdad was doing a Sudoko book. that pissed me off a bit that she didn't want me to miss school, meanwhile they were sitting around at home doing SFA. then later on I was watching a movie & my mom asked if I'd be around for awhile, I said I guess, she asked if I'd watch the girls while she went next door .... FOUR HOURS later she came home.
so thats pretty much it, not very interesting but I haven't posted anything all week so i thought i better write something. i thought vox would be full of entries like this .... 'i went to so-and-so today and did 'such-and-such' but its not really. well i will try to write about something more interesting tomorrow.
edit - and i meant the title to be 'boring for a friday', i just noticed it but i'm gonna leave it
