If your Vox Neighborhood had a potluck dinner tonight, what dish, drink or dessert would you bring?

hmm i remember when I was in grade 1, we had a party at school & we were told to 'bring a plate', which is an Australian expression for potluck.  My mom being Canadian thought it literally meant to take a plate, which is what I took .... an empty plate.  Everyone else had a plate with cookies or some kind of cake on them.

i've noticed at potluck dinners for every main meal course, you get 3 desserts .... people would rather take a dessert over a main.  i would probably take some honey garlic chicken wings.

What's been your worst experience at a restaurant?

my worst experience was at Kelsys in Newmarket, it was my third or fourth date with Stacey, and I ordered a steak.   It came with a 12 inch black hair on the side.  I normally would have picked it off & not worried, but I didn't want Stacey to think I was a wuss, so I called the waitress over.  the waitress asked if was my hair ... I have blonde hair, and so does Stacey!  so the waitress took it back, and a couple of minutes later gave me a new steak, which made me nervous (she probably spat on it or something).   when the bill came everything was on it, I thought she would have at least comped me for our drinks or something, but no dice.

Film & TV writers are on strike, which means everything except reality TV could halt production.  Do you support the strike?  Are any of your favorite shows in jeopardy?

YES, i do support the strike ... the writers should get a cut from DVD sales.  Especially if they do commentaries, which for me is a big reason for buying tv series on DVD.

I have no idea if my favorite shows are in jeopardy, I know the Daily Show is airing repeats during the strike.   apparently Jon Stewart is paying his writers & the Colbert Report's writers out of his own pocket while they are on strike. 

I wonder if Jeopardy is in jeopardy?  its a pretty sweet game-show. 

Radiohead release their seventh studio album today and it's only available online and you set your own price.  Will you buy the album?  Do you buy the idea?

i think its a fantastic idea, but i don't like radiohead so i wouldnt buy their cd, i wouldnt even torrent it idea.  but the idea of paying what you want is a great idea, and I hope more artists try it.  i wonder if there will be ever be a day when you can walk into a HMV or Virgin Megastore andf say "i'm paying $11.40 for these CDs".

Who's the coolest culinary celebrity?

Jamie Oliver tries a bit too hard to be cool, but I like him and I think he makes the sort of food I would eat.  I like Rachel Ray too, I think she's a good sort.  The coolest chef would have to be the Japanese Iron Chef.

 i could easily come up with a top 10 list of things i've spent money on, but here is the top 8 so far:

1. The OC Season 1 on DVD ($40)
2. Nortons Antivirus for my ibook ($70)
3. Viva Pinata ($60)
4. a Good Charlotte t-shirt at Livid Festival when I was 12 ($20)
5. 1 can of red bull in London for 6 pounds (so about $18 Canadian)
6. Nike Tri-D Shoes ($180)
7. Haircut for my brothers wedding ($60)
8. Silk tie for my brothers wedding ($300)

What board game are you really good at?  Really bad at?

i'm pretty decent at Trivia Pursuit games, but I make out like a bandit at Monopoly.  I buy the yellow and orange properties & then I just sit back and collect my money.

scrabble is a bull shit game IMO.  I always make words with at least 5 letters, it shits me when someone can come along and make a 3-letter word and get more points cos they made it on a triple score square. Adding a S to word already on the board should be banned.  Sorry is a ridiculously complicated game, its crazy how somebody who is dead last can come back and win it.
